I understand that there are quite a few delays at the moment owing to the number of people leaving Vanguard.
How far past the estimated date should I leave it before chasing ?

On the Vanguard website it currently states:
30 working days = 6 calendar weeks.
Any bank / public holidays would extend this time - Christmas/Easter etc.
But … there’s also the word “typically” - which is an easy cop out for when it takes longer…
In general I’d give it the 30 days = 6 weeks, slap a few days on top of that for any delays for reasons unknown and would ask for an update after 7 weeks.
There’s no point in asking within the 6 week period, methinks, as any CS would say to allow 30 working days as that’s what stated on the website.

Indeed, at the moment, due to the high volume on requests of SIPP & ISA Transfers from Vanguard, the advised waiting time for the transfers has increased.
For ISA/SIPP transfers we have an estimated waiting time of 8 weeks, in some cases it could take more.
We recommend checking with Vanguard also to see if this helps speed up the process.
