SPXL is a leveraged ETF?

Hi Everyone,

Just doing some portfolio rebalancing and noticed SPXL S&P500 is a leveraged ETF.

I did not notice this as thought it was a normal S&P500.

Should I change as I have IITU as a S&P500 Tech in my portfolio.

  1. Should I ditch SPXL totally (it has done 20% for me so far since April 2025!) as I have IITU

  2. Change to a non-leveraged S&P500 as I do like diversification (with the odd flutter on things like IITU). Which has the lowest TER, accumulating S&P500 please.

I am looking to reevaluate and consider drawdown in 2032 at the earliest.

Thanks.

SPXL isn’t leveraged. (It’s a different SPXL, available in US I think, that is leveraged.)

@Retiring2032

SPDR ETF (SPXL) is available on IE and is not leveraged.

Direxion Daily S&P 500 Bull snd Bear 3X shares ETF (SPXL) is leveraged but not available in the UK.

Hope this helps

Stehuk and Pinch,

Thank you for that.

I do not mind a little bit of a punt such as IITU but did not want the 3x leveraged ETF that copilot was telling me I had. It must of been referring to the US leveraged one.

Thanks I can continue to invest for my /nd retirement phase.

Have a great weekend.
