Has anyone ever used / had any success with using 3rd party portfolio trackers. I do like the idea of seeing all assets from different platforms, including yours and your partners combined portfolios in the same tracker to consolidate net worth.
I was looking at GetQuin (but there seems to be several other options out there) and straight away saw they cannot do automatic data imports from IE, which means every transaction has to be added manually. This seems counterintuitive if there are hundreds of historic transactions to add from the get go.
I like that these trackers can supposedly track all your investments automatically in real time, with visually aesthetic charts and graphs etc., but I don’t think I can be bothered to manually input all historic data. So, has anyone else used these trackers, and if so, have you had any luck with IE integration?
The best that I’ve found is Stock Events which is very good at tracking your current portfolio, not how your portfolio has evolved. You can add your current ETFs for near-live tracking of those along with detail about when dividends are due and expected amounts, ex-dividend dates etc. Options to add detail about number of ETF units and average purchase price. Manual but only takes a couple of minutes to give you accurate +/- through the day. Not perfect but fairly useful for a free app.
IE’s own analytics are ok for a quick glance but I agree, they could certainly improve upon what they already have. It is very basic compared to what could be achieved, making them stand out even more. I still like its simple functionality though, and I guess for some that’s more than enough.
I just wish IE could be connected to the portfolio trackers out there as many people use more than one platform.
I haven’t tried Stock Events. Seems capable having had a quick look at the site just now.
Something I noticed about GetQuin and Exirio is that they both didn’t have one of the ETF’s I have from each portfolio. I couldn’t get accurate figures because the nearest options they had were in different currencies. Somewhat annoying that not only could I not connect IE automatically to pull data in real time, I couldn’t even add all my EFTs manually because they didn’t list them. And I only have five, all mainstream, across two portfolios!
I’ll have another look at Stock Events when I get chance to see if it’s what I’m after.
There must be other users out there who have thought of tracking all their portfolios in one place, or is it just us few?
Hadn’t thought of google finance as an option. Do they do an aggregated view of all portfolios combined? I am after something with pie charts included. I guess this is suitable for tracking just stocks and etfs, but not as wealth tracker in general with other forms of assets.
I use ShareSight, which is a great tool for consolidating multiple portfolios.
You import IE trading emails into Sharesight by forwarding the trading email from IE to a unique email address for your portfolio. (so by using some smart emails rules you can automate it)
Also has good new portfolio income/dividend tracking tools.
I’ve had a look at this and tried the free tier by adding two csv files. For the most part this seems pretty good. I have noticed though there are still discrepancies between the ISA and SIPP figures in IE, and what’s shown in Sharesight. I have checked the ISINs and the share amounts for each and they all match, but the numbers are still off.
I’ll try the email forwarding next month. Is this fully automated?
I don’t see the point of paying for a service that advertises automated tracking if you still have to add each buy and sell manually because of limited connectivity with IE.
