A consideration for you IE
I appreciate the efforts to engage via this community. I think there are other opportunities like this to be had.
My thoughts are - having a core customer focus group, hosted quarterly perhaps (zoom, etc). Somewhere you can run ideas and get direct feedback. A group that could help you set or focus priorities, with a dedicated staff member for continuity.
This community is good but can be frustrated by both its size and delay in responses.
The group could even help provide quarterly updates from a customer/shareholder perspective in addition/conjunction with IE.
I’ve posted the idea here to see if others think this is a good idea…?
I didn’t realise until now that IE was funded like freetrade. Ultimately, the average crowd cube investor or forum user isn’t more knowledgeable than their PM(s) about what is needed to not go the way of freetrade (or maybe that’s not so bad for the founders, but getting TR/etoro size would be better for them).
Some poll on the forums about possible features would show what most of the forum users want most but that’s only a small subset of their customers and covers none of the millions of potential customers that don’t use it now.
By core I assume you mean fixed which means you’d only know what that tiny group wants. Poll captures the desires of much more without much overhead. Email survey could get more replies but more time consuming to summarise (unless co-pilot would do a good job with replies)
For user growth they just need to generate attention somehow. I returned because of them capitalising on Vanguard’s price hike. Maybe they could do some London advertising like T212 did before for gaining new users
I think polls are a good idea too but they share the same limitations, in that the ideas to come out of it are led by the business, with fixed and narrow outcomes, not the customers.
A focus group allows more open and free-form discussion, which can be far more creative as a process.
But I cede your point about the narrow exposure of a few representing the many. On such things are built empires!
