I’m new to the platform and am puzzled why there’s a small reduction in the amount I purchase when I buy the VUAG ETF. I purchased £35 and got £34.80’s worth. I joined InvestEngine as they seemed low fee. The only thing I can think of is that it’s due to a conversion fee as I deposit GBP and the ETF is USD. Is this the reason or is it something else? Thanks in advance.
When you buy an ETF there’s always a spread… the buy price will always be higher than the sell price and so if the price is say £10, in reality you might buy for say £10.01 and so immediately you’re at a slight loss due to this spread.
The other option is that IE will always use slightly less funds just in case there is a big spike in price and then you can’t fulfil the order. Eg, have you checked if you have 20p worth of cash leftover?
In the long run it’s splitting hairs and so not worth fretting too much about ![]()

Okay, thanks for the explanation, I hadn’t considered the spread, that makes sense now.
