Feedback for InvestEngine:
-
The account and platform are appreciated for their simplicity - this is a genuine strength worth keeping.
-
Transfers between Portfolios: Allow ETF holdings to be moved directly between portfolios without selling and rebuying. Currently this forces a sell/wait-for-settlement/rebuy cycle, exposing users to the bid/ask spread, market timing risk, tax and lost time.
-
Fractional dealing residual cash: Leaving small amounts uninvested - on which InvestEngine earns interest without passing it on - is not acceptable.
-
Interest on cash: Customers should be able to earn interest on uninvested cash, full stop. Cash competitiveness: A cash rate of 3.2%, or a fund yielding 3.7% only tradable once daily, isn’t competitive. Marcus (e.g) offers 3.75%, and Trading 212 offers more, both with instant access.
-
Once-daily dealing: This shouldn’t be the only option. A choice to trade instantly at live market price is needed - but charging a fee (even £1) for this would be a dealbreaker and would push me to another provider.
-
Pricing transparency: The dealing process is opaque. There’s no visibility into the bid/ask spread charged, or the gap between the quoted and executed price.
-
Limit orders: Would help address the pricing transparency and once-daily dealing concerns above by letting users set a maximum buy or minimum sell price.
-
Bonds and Gilts: Interested in the ability to buy UK gilts and corporate bonds directly, understanding these aren’t ETFs and would be a departure from the current model.
-
ETF requests: An easy, formal way to request new ETFs be added to the platform would be useful.
-
AI Chatbot: I would welcome InvestEngine introducing an AI chatbot of the same quality as Revolut’s — it’s generally better than human customer service representatives I’ve dealt with, and would go a long way toward addressing slow response times that have been discussed in previous topics and online.
The survey itself was simple and easy to complete, and judging by the questions asked, it suggests InvestEngine is at least somewhat in tune with its customers and on the right track.
