Google Authenticator

Now that 2 factor authentication is mandatory on IE during the login process which by the way, is a good idea in terms of security of your account.

Is it possible for IE to introduce an alternate 2fa other than mobile SMS?

How about Google Authenticator, a free authenticating app?

Here is a WiKi link explaning what SIM swapping is,

As IE wishes users to initiate 2fa during login, why not make it more secure rather than just making the login process more complicated?

Hello! At InvestEngine, the security and privacy of our clients are our top priorities. After careful consideration, we have chosen not to allow third-party authentication apps for account security.

By relying on our in-house authentication system, we have full control over the security protocols used to protect your account. Unlike third-party apps, which may introduce additional vulnerabilities, our system is specifically designed and tailored to the unique needs of our platform. This ensures that we can offer you the highest level of protection for your investments and personal information.

In addition to SMS codes, please note that you are also welcome to use recovery phrases and push notifications to complete two-factor authentication.

Hello Tanya,

Thanks for your reply.
Hope that SIM swapping does not become a reality at InvestEngine.

Best wishes
Rob

Except your system has one massive flaw. If you log out of the app, like restarting, then when you try to log back in it asks for you to authorise in the app you’re trying to log into to be able to log in.

Catch 22.
