Hey Dennis, we don’t have a definitive release date just as yet but the aim is before the end of the year. We will be providing our investors with an update in the coming weeks, so if you’re registered for our marketing emails, you’ll be the first to know
@Menace-Dennis – I’ll go a bit further than Dee here and say the release will be in the coming weeks (not months)…However, we will likely do a staged release, we’re seeing really strong demand and need to make sure we can handle the volumes.
Make sure you’ve registered your interest you’re interest to be first in line.
InvestEngine Self-Invested Personal Pensions (SIPP)
Please address the questions on employer contributions as this is a crucial factor for me to open a SIPP with IE.
Agree with stehuk’s point. I avoid keeping cash generally as I prefer all my money to be invested (and to be potentially be making money) - if it’s held as cash, it’s no longer making (potential) money regardless of how little the amount is, so I’d rather pay by card (or a similar means).
I don’t really understand this argument. Presumably the cash has to be sitting somewhere either way (either in your current account or SIPP)? And paying from SIPP is effectively 20-40% cheaper because of the tax relief you get on pension contributions. Not sure where else you’re getting a 40% return!
You’re right on the paying from SIPP tax relief point. I do not keep cash on hand in a current account where it is making 0% - rather it be in a savings account, GIA, NS&I etc. I realise it’s small but putting it in any of those is better than making 0% in a current account, and I can draw from there each month when the fee is due. Just how I’ve always done my finances, e.g., when paying credit card bills etc.
@Rajesh - Employer contributions won’t be there at launch but one of our top priorities as a fast follow on feature after we get SIPPs live
This makes sense. What about doing it the way that (I think) Vanguard does it - automatically selling some of your largest investment if there’s no cash in the account to cover the fee?
Think that would be the ideal. Imagine it’s a little more complex to implement (triggering the automatic sells and figuring out how much to sell down etc)
@tom.winterton can I just say a massive thanks to you and the team for taking on board the feedback re. pension costs. I’m with Nutmeg and I really don’t want to be as I love the IE app (and basically the whole experience). I’m really looking forward to finally having all my investments in one place.
Also side note: current account and credit card please? I would literally pay for a current account with you as I know it would be superb.
Will in specie transfers in be available on launch?
Interested in opening an account for this specific purpose. Should I delay opening one with Vanguard? While I understand you can’t provide exact dates, could you give an estimate of how quickly this feature will be followed up after its launch? Thank you!
That’s a huge shame as even on this small thread it’s the defining part for some people switching over. Nice to know it’s on the radar but I guess we are looking at next year most likely for this to come into play. If it could be done for the new financial year that would be great.
Hi Isaac, I’m afraid we cannot give an ETA on this yet I’m afraid. All I can say is we absolutely recognise the demand for this feature and it will one of the first things we look at added once our SIPP is launched
Couple of questions:
(1) Will you be adding a drawdown option for the SIPP on launch? Or will it be added later?
(2) If adding a drawdown option, will it be possible for beneficiaries to access funds via beneficiary flexi-access drawdown upon death of Sipp holder?
(3) I presume death benefits for the IE SIPP would be discretionary rather than directed?
Hi InvestEngine - do you have any update on when this will go live? I registered interest on announcement day, but haven’t had an update since.
Hi Christopher, we’re going to release SIPPs in November and will likely announce the exact date soon, so keep an eye on our updates!
Hi, thanks for your interest in SIPPs!
- We will not be offering a drawdown option via our UI or App for the InvestEngine pension at launch as our SIPPs as designed for people in the accumulation phase of these pensions.
- We will consider this if/when we build out drawdown capabilities.
Confirmed death benefits for our IE SIPP would be discretionary.
Thanks so much @Paul_M.
Do you think that you might introduce a drawdown option in the next few years, or unable to comment right now? Would be good to at least if it might be in the pipeline (albeit a lower priority than other features).
Hey, we are working towards offering a drawdown option in the future. Just like you’ve mentioned, we will be focusing on providing a great SIPP product first.
