Why is Invest Engine Going Backwards?

I opened a new IE account to invest in some of the ETFs listed below, which were available until few weeks ago but looks like they have been culled for no valid reason:

SGLN, SSLN, SGLP and many others

This is surely a backward step from IE. Instead of adding new ETFs, they are removing some of the good ETFs they previously offered. I can only hope they restore it soon. Otherwise, I will unfortunately be forced to take my business elsewhere.

Thanks.

I also would like to know. It looks like all the physical gold and silver etfs are missing.

Exactly. Can someone from IE confirm why ETCs for Gold & Silver were removed please.

This is concerning. Can anyone who owned these comment on what happened to your gold/silver ETCs?

i have ishares gold ETC SGLN and yes it is still trading fine.

i also have a small managed portfolio and i noticed it was rebalanced and omitted on 1/12/25, i am surprised to hear it is not available as SGLN is up 3.63% past 1 month.

Im 20% in “alternatives” since i opened the account ( ~2 years) and last added to my precious metals stash on the 4th December.

Both the Buy and Sell options are active; so looks okay here.

Its not unusual for platforms to remove investments; usually you can only sell. But thats not the case for me.

Is it unusual to remove them without any prior warning or explaining why they’re being removed?

It is concerning if they cull ETFs whenever they like without communicating to customers. At least send an email out informing customers.

Response from InvestEngine regarding gold & silver ETCs:

“We have temporarily stopped offering a small number of funds while we investigate a permissions issue. We take our regulatory obligations seriously and are liaising with the FCA, and those ETFs are temporarily unavailable for buying.

We are not able to currently give any indication of when/if they will be re introduced”

Thanks Jo.

So they didn’t have permission before when they were allowing investments in these ETCs?

Also, how did you get a response from IE?

Not sure but it’s a fair point. I emailed the support team.

Thanks. Fingers crossed they bring them back

Moved my S&S ISA to T212 by opening a new account with them. I have already waited enough and can’t wait forever for IE to bring these ETFs back, specially when there is a rally going on in these ETFs.

Thank you IE for ruining it for me. Your loss is T212’s gain.

How long did your transfer take? It is getting to the point where I feel I will have to do the same. This situation has been handled so poorly, I have lost all faith in IE.

Yes received the following response from customer service, today

“GBSP (Amundi Physical Gold ETC) is no longer available for new investments on InvestEngine due to regulatory changes affecting certain physical precious metals ETFs/ETCs. As a result, it no longer appears in search results, although any clients who already hold it can continue to do SO.

At the moment, we don’t have an alternative physical gold ETF/ETC available on the platform. We continue to monitor regulatory developments and review products, but there’s no confirmed timeline for when physical gold ETFs may return.”

I’m disappointed InvestEngine didn’t proactively tell customers about this change. The reasons offered are vague at best. Was there a regulatory change??

I will consider switching to a platform that continues to support a physical gold ETF.

Sad times.

It’s all BS IMO. Allow me to explain:

So this regulatory development only affects Invest Engine and not other platforms?

On top of that, this regulatory development only affects new users trying to add those ETCs to their portfolio and not existing users?

I have worked in Finance all my life and I deal with regulators and regulations every day. I have never seen a regulation this much targeted to a specific customer subset.

So like I said earlier, it’s nothing but complete BS from IE.

vague at best b/s at worst.

getting fed up with IE and management feedback or lack of it regarding gold/silver/palladium ETC, it appears IE c/s dont work weekends.

getting fed up to read of clients locked out of their app/account and waiting for c/s to reply.

i have a 3 figure account with IE and the funds i want i have bought with T212 as they have been asked for but not been replied to ???

seriously thinking of going to cash and transfering!

no in-specie transfer imo is immoral if not illegal.

To be honest it has been irritating that you persistently and wrongly refer to these products as ETFs in your complaints, despite others showing you the correct terminology several times. We should expect you to at least understand what you are buying, for someone who has “worked in finance all of their life”.
