I opened a new IE account to invest in some of the ETFs listed below, which were available until few weeks ago but looks like they have been culled for no valid reason:
SGLN, SSLN, SGLP and many others
This is surely a backward step from IE. Instead of adding new ETFs, they are removing some of the good ETFs they previously offered. I can only hope they restore it soon. Otherwise, I will unfortunately be forced to take my business elsewhere.
i have ishares gold ETC SGLN and yes it is still trading fine.
i also have a small managed portfolio and i noticed it was rebalanced and omitted on 1/12/25, i am surprised to hear it is not available as SGLN is up 3.63% past 1 month.
Response from InvestEngine regarding gold & silver ETCs:
“We have temporarily stopped offering a small number of funds while we investigate a permissions issue. We take our regulatory obligations seriously and are liaising with the FCA, and those ETFs are temporarily unavailable for buying.
We are not able to currently give any indication of when/if they will be re introduced”
Moved my S&S ISA to T212 by opening a new account with them. I have already waited enough and can’t wait forever for IE to bring these ETFs back, specially when there is a rally going on in these ETFs.
Thank you IE for ruining it for me. Your loss is T212’s gain.
How long did your transfer take? It is getting to the point where I feel I will have to do the same. This situation has been handled so poorly, I have lost all faith in IE.
Yes received the following response from customer service, today
“GBSP (Amundi Physical Gold ETC) is no longer available for new investments on InvestEngine due to regulatory changes affecting certain physical precious metals ETFs/ETCs. As a result, it no longer appears in search results, although any clients who already hold it can continue to do SO.
At the moment, we don’t have an alternative physical gold ETF/ETC available on the platform. We continue to monitor regulatory developments and review products, but there’s no confirmed timeline for when physical gold ETFs may return.”
I’m disappointed InvestEngine didn’t proactively tell customers about this change. The reasons offered are vague at best. Was there a regulatory change??
I will consider switching to a platform that continues to support a physical gold ETF.
So this regulatory development only affects Invest Engine and not other platforms?
On top of that, this regulatory development only affects new users trying to add those ETCs to their portfolio and not existing users?
I have worked in Finance all my life and I deal with regulators and regulations every day. I have never seen a regulation this much targeted to a specific customer subset.
So like I said earlier, it’s nothing but complete BS from IE.
