HI All,
Curious to know if anyone else is invested in this fund which I believed was a ‘safe’ money market type etf ? I’ve had a chunk of cash held here since December 2025 and currently showing a 0.33% loss !
This compares to Amundi Smart Overnight Return (CSH2) which I also hold and over the same timescale is showing a 1.83% gain which is what I’d expect.
Anyone got any ideas why the Xtrackers fund is performing negatively which wasn’t expected ?

I would presume it is just because of when you entered the fund relative to the ‘dividend’ distribution of that fund.
The amundi one is accumulating and so will generally trend upwards whereas XSTR distributes every 6 months so some returns will land in your account as cash every 6 months. This comes out of the value of the fund.
If you bought in December, you bought in part way through this cycle. The fund went ex-dividend in mid-late February and distributed in early March so this will have dropped the fund price below your original buy in price.
Your fund will show a negative price return for the time being but you will have recieved that difference in the dividend distribution that you received as cash, if that makes sense, so you are not actually down in total returns.
It is a quirk of distributing funds as the % you are seeing only shows price return and doesnt take the dividend distributions into account.
It is helpful to switch to the price return tab in investengine for that fund to see how it looks on the chart for a better visualisation of the price action. Or alternatively, find the fund on JustETF and change between dividends included or not with the tick box.
I hope this wasnt too much of a ramble, I quickly typed it out during work. Shhh.

Hi,
The penny drops and perfectly explained by your good self. I didn’t realise it was ‘distribution’ and hadn’t notice my dividend payment. All good now thanks to your kind response.
