Confusing gain percentege

I deposited around £10500 so far this fiscal year and the user interface shows that I’m up around £200 or 18%. £200 is clearly not 18% of my net deposit amount, so what’s going on here? Which is my real growth? Also notice that the remaining amount is off too.

Yes, that is a decimal point wrong.

If your total is now £10,659.71 and you have made a gain of £195.77 that means you have invested £10463.94 and your gain as a percentage is 1.85%

Thanks, that connects, hopefully they’ll fix the bug. I almost thought you work at IE. Cheers.

Ie use time value of money to calculate % returns so could be correct. Think there’s posts or blog on here somewhere that explains

Hmm, ok @shrimper thanks. I need to read a bit on the topic as I have to admit, so for for me it’s been a deposit & forget thing.

Hello!

We show your investment return in pounds (£) as well as percentage terms.

The pounds’ return number is your profit in cash terms or — if there’s a minus sign before the number — your loss. It is the difference between the total amount of money you invested and the current value of your portfolio, plus any withdrawals you have already made.

This is the calculation: Investment Return = Current Value + Withdrawals ‑ Contributions

The percentage investment return which we show is the time‑weighted return (TWR). This gives a better picture of performance for portfolios where you have made more than a single contribution and/or withdrawals. The TWR adjusts for these cash flows.

We recommend viewing this Community page which will give a more detailed explanation including examples, which will help you understand better how TWR works.
