Hi All
I am going to sell my biggest ETF holding soon.
The ex dividend date is about a week away.
My question is if i sell the fund after the ex dividend date but before the payment date do i lose any of the dividend?
Sorry if question is dumb but would like answer.
Thanks

No, you don’t lose dividends… they will be paid into your account at/shortly after the payment date.
I usually sell after the record date, just to be sure.

You can sell it on ex-dividend day. To get the dividend you need to hold the share before. Be aware price may drop on ex-dividend day as others sell, so your problem may be when IE sells and the price you get.

Holdings usually drop by the dividend payment when they go ex, making waiting pretty pointless.
